Friday Send Along

You know how random things come together, seemingly by coincidence, but sometimes you wonder if there is something else at work in the Universe?  Well, the most recent occurence of that for me was this:

Blog pal, Fanciful Alice wrote a book ~ Tales from a Traveling Mum: Navigating Europe with a Babe-in-Arms.  I promptly ordered a copy and read it.  Among its other delights, it transported me back to all the vacations John and I took with our family when the children were young.  We packed up every summer and camped in state and national parks all over the country.  There were trying times and there were marvelous times, and the former were always worth it for the latter.  I actually wrote a review of Alice's book on Amazon which you can read if you like, but you can also "Look Inside" and read some of her own words, which are far superior as the real thing.

On the heels of my experience with Alice's book came daughter Sarah's recent post on Posa Tigres ~ What I Did on My Summer Vacation.  It is a lovely piece of writing, and a darn good description of what actually happened on the infamous Menkedick family vacations.  Although let it be known that while, yes, we did eat a good amount of tofu and some nori here and there, I served up a lot of green bean casserole in my day!  I'm just saying.

Happy Friday!  See you next week.

...and of course I simply couldn't resist but pop over for a quick catch-up. How strange that Sarah should write about her own memories as you were thinking about your own!!! and what a beautiful piece of writing it is. I hope Isabella will one day have such wonderful memories of our experiences. Thank you so much for the Amazon review - it warmed me inside. Have a very happy weekend xx
